Purpose of the Job
We are looking for an experienced Associate Manager – Utility & ZLD to manage and ensure the efficient operation of plant utilities and the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system across both manufacturing units. The candidate should have strong experience in utility operations, water and wastewater treatment, ZLD systems, and engineering maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
Key Role and Responsibilities
- Utility Management
- Manage and monitor day-to-day operations of plant utilities across both units.
- Ensure the uninterrupted availability and efficient operation of utilities required for manufacturing operations.
- Handle utilities such as Water Treatment Plant (WTP), Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), RO systems, cooling towers, air compressors, pumps, boilers, and other utility equipment, as applicable.
- Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for improving efficiency and reducing operational costs.
- Plan and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance activities for utility equipment.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and external vendors for smooth utility operations.
- ZLD & Wastewater Management
- Manage the operation and performance of the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system.
- Ensure effective operation of ETP, RO, MEE, ATFD and associated wastewater treatment systems, wherever applicable.
- Monitor water quality, effluent parameters, recovery efficiency, and system performance.
- Ensure maximum water recovery and reuse within the manufacturing process.
- Troubleshoot operational issues related to wastewater treatment and ZLD systems.
- Optimize chemical consumption, energy usage, and operating costs of utility and ZLD systems.
- Maintain records and documentation related to water consumption, effluent treatment, and ZLD operations.
- Compliance & Improvement
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external agencies for inspections and compliance requirements.
- Drive initiatives for water conservation, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and cost optimization.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the reliability and efficiency of utility and ZLD operations.
- Manage utility-related shutdown planning and improvement projects.
- Required Technical Expertise
- Strong experience in Utility Operations and Management within a manufacturing plant.
- Hands-on knowledge of ZLD, ETP, WTP, RO, MEE, and wastewater treatment processes.
- Experience in managing utility equipment such as pumps, compressors, cooling systems, boilers, and water treatment systems.
- Knowledge of water chemistry, wastewater treatment, and water recovery processes.
- Experience in reducing utility consumption and improving operational efficiency.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Candidate Profile
- Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, or relevant Engineering discipline.
- Experience: 10–12 years of relevant experience in Utility, Water Treatment, ETP, or ZLD operations.
- Candidates should preferably come from Aluminium, Engineering Manufacturing, Auto Ancillary, Metal Manufacturing, or Heavy Manufacturing industries.
- Experience in handling utilities and environmental systems in a large manufacturing plant is preferred.
- Good team coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to manage operations across both manufacturing units.
