Purpose of the Job
The role requires an experienced Senior Electrical Schematic Design Engineer with relevant experience in electrical and electronic schematic design, preferably in the energy metering and smart metering industry. The candidate will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and validating electrical and electronic circuit schematics for energy meters, smart meters, and related electrical measurement products.
Key Role and Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and validate electrical and electronic schematics for single-phase and three-phase energy meters, smart meters, and multifunction meters.
- Design circuit schematics for voltage and current measurement, power supply, metrology, communication interfaces, display units, and control circuits.
- Work on analog and digital circuit design, signal conditioning, sensor interfacing, and microcontroller-based electronic systems.
- Select suitable electronic components based on electrical ratings, accuracy, reliability, availability, cost, and product requirements.
- Coordinate with PCB design engineers for schematic-to-PCB implementation, layout reviews, and design corrections.
- Work closely with firmware and embedded software teams to ensure proper hardware and firmware integration.
- Support communication interfaces and modules such as UART, SPI, I2C, RS-485, optical communication, and wireless communication, as applicable.
- Review and troubleshoot circuit designs, hardware failures, and product performance issues.
- Conduct design verification, prototype testing, debugging, and root-cause analysis of electronic hardware issues.
- Ensure designs meet applicable energy metering standards, customer specifications, and product reliability requirements.
- Support product certification, testing, quality assurance, production engineering, and manufacturing teams.
- Prepare and maintain schematic drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), design documents, test reports, and engineering change records.
- Lead design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and establish best practices for schematic design and hardware development.
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
